The story
From screen saver
to listening companion.
The original Psycho Deli was conceived and programmed for Windows by Benjamin McCurtain in 1996, with Mac programming by Eric Pitcher and Jefferson Provost. It shipped in Berkeley Systems’ After Dark screen saver collection.
Psychodeli+ takes that visual idea into a new medium: GPU-rendered patterns, musical analysis and a director that shapes the picture over time. Rhythm, harmony, energy and musical phrases inform a continuous visual journey. You can watch it unfold or play with the controls yourself.

The original, alive again
Afterglow preserves.
Psychodeli+ evolves.
Afterglow is an independent preservation project that runs original After Dark modules on modern macOS. Its emulator executes the original 68k module code; modules are imported separately.
It offers a way to revisit Psycho Deli as it was. Psychodeli+ explores what its visual language can become as a music-responsive instrument.
Afterglow is a separate project. The screenshot is historical context, not a Psychodeli+ product image. After Dark and its modules belong to their respective rights holders.
